VolkovOS was founded in 2016 in Russia by a private group of engineers who believed that mobile operating systems had become instruments of surveillance — not tools of communication. For years, what we built was never advertised. It circulated quietly, by referral, among those who understood what was at stake.
In 2025, we made a deliberate decision to expand westward — into Europe, the United States, and Canada. Not because the product changed. Because the situation did.
Western governments are advancing legislation that erodes digital privacy at an unprecedented pace. Bulk surveillance frameworks, mandatory backdoors, metadata retention laws, and pressure on device manufacturers to weaken encryption — the direction is clear. What was once a concern for activists and journalists is now a reality for ordinary citizens.
We are not a startup. We are not looking for investors. We built VolkovOS for ourselves first — and we are now offering it to people in the West who recognise what is being taken from them, and who are willing to do something about it.
